What Recess is

We don’t want to keep you. We want to help you find people worth keeping.

Recess is a membership for young professionals in Charlotte — people who moved here for work and don’t have a built-in social circle anymore. Think of what college does: puts you in proximity with people going through the same stretch of life as you.

What’s on

There’s a calendar of events members have access to: pilates, pickleball, morning hikes, after-work mixers, golf, brunch, workshops, career nights and more. Some of it Recess runs. Some of it comes from members.

Members can start clubs too. Fashion club, entrepreneurial clubs, study clubs. You pitch it, and if it fits, Recess gives you what you need to get it off the ground: the tools, the structure, a place in the membership to host. Then you run it on your own schedule, for other members. It’s not a side feature. A lot of what makes Recess feel alive is people building the corners of it themselves.
